We are Matt and Liz, a husband a wife team who enjoy trying our hand at the skills required to live the smallholder lifestyle. We hope to get a smallholding one day, but in the meantime we are renting a house with a garden large enough for us to grow a reasonable amount of fruit and vegetables. We also have an allotment plot and help out at our local community garden.
We lead quite busy lives, what with working and raising young children. But in our spare time we love to be outdoors cultivating or in the kitchen putting our produce to the best use we can. On this blog we are documenting our successes and failures as we attempt to grow, forage, preserve and most of all enjoy the produce of the land.
Our Allotment
Our allotment is a relatively small one, just 3 rods. But we are happy with that. It isn’t our only growing space and we are just grateful for the extra growing capacity it has provided us with. I have yried to fond out hpw to grow Pea Beans wothout success. What do you do? E.g. spacing and depth, time of year.
